| [ 18.11.98 ]another RTS server - RTS feedback form - RTS reviewed - more RTS features | |||||
| A big shout goes out to the guys at Telefragged for setting up our second RTS server at 206.96.221.150:27930, especially Idoru who had to put up with all my server setup knowledge (or rather lack of :) Alright, so I want everyone to flood the server in a big show of appreciation, okay?! Since this release of RTS is only a beta, we decided it'd be a good idea to put up a feedback page where you can fill out a simple form to let us know what you like/don't like about the current state of RTS. The more responses/bug reports we get, the faster RTS will move from beta to final version and the better quality it will be. So if you have beef with anything in our mod, LET US KNOW! In other news, it seems RTS was the mod of week for Gamespot UK this week (hmmm...I guess it's last week now). They gave it a great review also, so go check it out if you don't believe me about how fun RTS really is. Thanks a lot to Cro over at Gamespot UK for the kind words and for keeping on top of the TC scene. As if that wasn't enough news, I got a nice little present in my mail today: Trebz sent me a now almost finalized version of our frontend...and IT LOOKS GOOD. So it seems that the full release of RTS will be accompanied by a sweet looking launcher too; now you'll have no excuse for not being able to play a game of RTS completely suited to your needs :) I almost forgot...a lot of people have been requesting shots of RTS in action, so anyone out there who happens to grab a nice shot of RTS while playing on one of our servers, please send it our way (640x480 gif or jpg please, depending on if you're playing gl or not). |

| [ 14.11.98 ] RTS beginner guide | |||||
| First off, I'd like to thank all of you have have written us to let us know how much you're enjoying RTS; it's great to know all our hardwork hasn't gone for naught. To help you all get started, we've put together a Beginner's Guide to illustrate the basic gameplay of RTS (joing a team, depositing and stealing gems, etc). We're also working on getting a telefragged server up and running with RTS very soon, so expect to be able to play a little closer to home if you're living in the US. And now the begging part...if you are a server administrator who would like to start up an RTS server of your own, please let us know and we'll set you all up. We're confident RTS will be a huge success, but only if its on enough server that people can actually play it! Spread the word! |

| [ 12.11.98 ] RTS beta released! | |||||
| Well folks, it's official; RTS is finally out. After a lot of work and a lot of RL setbacks, we've finally gotten our shit together and are now releasing the public beta. The beta includes all the maps, models, new weapons, new sfx, new strategies and awesome new gameplay that is RTS...the only thing it's missing is extensive single player support and a few little secrets we're saving until the final release :) So grab it here (8.24 MB), and get playing. Use the included QSPY tab or just check back here to find out where you can log on and start fragging. For now, you can play on Reschky's RTS server at 193.203.170.22, and we should have one up in the US soon too. If there are any server admins out there, we'd love to have you host our mod. Just drop us a line and let us know so we can point people in the right direction and help RTS to spread. The more often people play, and the faster they get us bug reports and/or gameplay suggestions, the quicker we can get them fixed/added and get the final version out. Oh and before I forget, you're gonna need to grab the beta patch (332K). It fixes a small code bug we found last minute as well as the goof I made where the textures don't map onto the weapons. See, that's what I get for staying up until 4am trying to put the pak together :) So what the hell are you still reading for? Get downloading and then grab those gems soldier! |

| [ 03.10.98 ]RTS enters beta testing | |||||
| Yikes! It's been over a month since our last update. I never intended to go that long without something to say, but alas, RL sucks a phat one. At this point, you're probably wondering what the heck we've been up to, eh? Well, to be honest, not that much. Every member of our team has been swamped with RL responsibilites so work has been progressing slowly, but the good news is...RTS has finally entered beta testing. Yep, that's right; we finally squashed a huge bug that was plaguing our maps and got everything working at last. So it shouldn't be much more of a wait. As it looks now, the first release will include 3 maps + 1 boss map. Unfortunately, mne[MON]ik's map won't be in the initial release because he's busy moving at the moment and has no time or net access. So where is the extra map coming from? Well, MangledMan pulled a map out of his a$$ in four days to up the number back to three; and just to keep you all in suspense, we won't be posting any screenshots of it until after the release date :) Oh yeah, and did I mention that after getting really pissed off with compiling errors, Trebz scraped Waterworks and did a completely new and completely awesome new map? Well, he did, so all you think you've seen has just been a preview of the real stuff you'll find in Rob the Strogg. Make sure to check back in a week or so...you never know what you'll find. |

| [ 30.08.98 ] Release date postponed - new screenshots - RTS description updated | |||||
| As sorry as I am
to say, it seems as if RTS will be delayed a few
weeks as we finish up the maps and eliminate all the remaining code bugs.
So to all of you out there who were expecting RTS to be done by the end
of August, we're sorry. The good news though is that because we have a
little more time, we can add a few more goodies and make sure everything
is working perfectly before we release it. One additional element that
has been added over the past week has been automated, unmanned turrets.
Everyone is familiar with the traditional Quake 2 turrets (and those are
in there too of course :) but now mappers have the ability to put defense
turrets (like those seen in the Sin demo) into their maps. They're fully
customizable and can be equipped with up to 3 barrels, each with their
own ammo type. Way cool. And since we'd hate to leave you all waiting with nothing to tide you over, we've released six (6) new screenshots of two of the RTS levels, Waterworks and The Forgotten Outpost. Head on over to the screenshots page and check them out. Also of note on the RTS front is that the RTS page has been updated to reflect the current story for RTS. We altered the original one a bit to allow for some more things we have planned and to be a bit more simple. We all like it a lot more, how about you? |

| [ 20.08.98 ] New Screenshots - archived old news | |||||
| Sorry for the lack of
updates lately; what can I say except that we've been working our asses
off on Rob the Strogg. In return for your patience, I've posted two shots
mne[MON]ik sent me of his level. The previews don't do these pics justice,
you really need to look at the full size versions to see how cool they
are, as well as how much this guy loves to make some monlithic maps :)
These shots also show off our new HUD and give a glimpse of the gems that
are the main goal of RTS. Expect some shots from MangledMan's level soon as well as a couple from Trebz's second level as soon as he gets back from vacation in a few days. |
