What can we say but "thanks"...another great review for RTS, this time from our friend Sluggo over
at Mod Central. Speaking of RTS,
we've got an update in the works that fixes the bugs that have been popping up lately now that we've got some serious real-world testing going on. In addition, RTS 1.2 will also include at least 2 new maps and fixes for existing maps; expect it to be released shortly (plans are for next week). For those of you looking for RTS servers, there's another one up on Telefragged at 206.96.221.151:27910, so head on over there and pack the server! Oh, and before I forget, Trebz sent along word today of a fix some people are having with ROB. It seems that the launcher doesn't overwrite the standard rts.ini file correctly sometimes, so to fix it, simply delete your old rts.ini file before making a new one and all should work well. Well, our little baby, RTS is currently in need of servers. So if you
have a server running Lithium or another mod and you wonder why it is
empty all the time, run RTS on it and contact us. This is your chance
to make your server crowded. In case you have lived under a rock the last couple of weeks, RTS absolutely rocks and this is not only our personal opinion (!) but everybody who played it got angry that there is currently only the Telefragged server (206.96.221.150:27930) running the mod. Thanks to Warforge, Cro and Portax for pimping it, same goes for Sluggo (something wonderful will happen soon). Check out the review Warforge did over at his site at Barrysworld. |

| Sorry this has been so delayed, but the sfx patch
to correct the previously mentioned "sex-change" bug is now available. Simply
grab it from the sidebar (RTS 1.1 patch) and unzip into your rts directory.

| Heh, some of you have pointed
out that there is a small glitch with some of the sound effects not playing
and others where the male sfx is the female version. Err....this was our
special "sex change" bug. Yeah, that's it. No really though, I goofed when
saving the sound files so a couple are mixed up at the moment. I've already
fixed them and we'll be including them in a small patch to be released shortly
(we're changing a little of the code too so we're holding off releasing
the patch just yet). For those of you looking to set up linux RTS servers, the port is now done and is available by clicking on the proper link in the sidebar. And if anyone is interested in running RTS on solaris, let us know and we'll port it over for ya. Also available is our custom frontend/launcher "Rob". Rob lets you customize all the features of RTS to suit your needs; especially handy for server admins looking to modify the game they're running. I know the link didn't work yesterday (for those of you who tried it), but I fixed it now, so go get it from the sidebar. Remember, unless you've got VB6 dlls already installed, you're gonna need to grab the full version and not the small one. And on a final note for today, the Telefragged server is back up (206.96.221.150:27930) with the latest build on it (running with monsters disabled); so for you US fans who were getting shitty pings dialing over to Europe, this should improve your gameplay considerably.

| [ 23.12.98 ] RTS released! - release party on IRC | ||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Wohoo! Today marks the release
of Rob the Strogg--the mod we've been diligently working away on for the
past several months. Grab
it here (9.2 megs). After you install the mod, head on over to EFNET
#tmatrix and join our release party. Unfortunately, there will not be any
prizes given away today (despite what might have been said on news pages),
but there probably will be at a later date when we have another big RTS
party. You'll also be able to find out where the latest RTS servers are
setup and which ones are playing which gameplay modes. For those of you who are interested in RTS solely as a single player experience, we'd just like to let you know that while this release of rts contains maps which fully support (and are damn fun in) single player mode, in a couple of weeks, we'll be releasing an RTS single player pak which will contain new levels specifically designed for solo play and a special end game movie. And while I'm on add-on paks, we'll most likely also be shortly releasing additonal maps for RTS (supporting all modes of play) so that you can extend the fun of RTS into whole new levels (and make online play more diverse). Okay, our frontend/launcher "Rob" is available for download (just click on links in sidebar to the right). Rob allows you to fully customize your RTS experience and give you total control over all the options RTS has to offer. So grab it now!

| In the spirit of the holiday
season, we've decided to rerelease our little Christmas mod we made for
VRGN last year. It's a fun little one level TC where you must battle an
Evil Santa Claus and all his twisted and vile minions. To find out more,

here to download. And for those of you looking for the final release of RTS, I know I said it would be released today, but we found one more bug we're squashing as I write this and the mappers are putting the final touches on the maps...so it's gonna be just a few more days. Sorry for the delay, but in the effort of avoiding additional downloads, we don't want to release unstable stuff. Just hang with us. In the meantime, check out Twisted Xmas :)

| Well it won't be long now.
RTS is scheduled to be released this coming Saturday. We're not sure what
time yet, but we'll be having a small release party on IRC so that anyone
can pop by and get first hand info on RTS (installation, using the new weapons,
secret techniques, etc). To cut down on download time, we've decided to
split up the main pak and the exclusively single player additions into two
different zips. This will allow everyone to play RTS, but those of you not
interested in the single player aspect of RTS won't have to download the
two extra maps and special endgame movie. Speaking of endgame movies, our
sound effects guru Haxu has just wrapped up filming on the official RTS
endgame credit sequence. It's an action packed romp that definately captures
the intensity and overall fun that we tried to cram into RTS. The movie
will be played at the end of single player game or can just be played by
loading the dm2. Either way, it's definately worth checking out. In any case, since we've been keeping everyone waiting and since we've been getting a bunch of requests for them, we've released some in-game shots of RTS actually being played on one our servers. Head on over to the screenshots page and take a look. They give a glimpse of the new weapons in action and of the final levels that will be in RTS. Oh yeah, in case you didn't notice, I started using that sidebar to the left to provide links to the most recent stuff; should make for some easier browsing, especially considering I just archived the old news. |
